What is LANAP Laser Surgery?

LANAP offers a less painful, more successful treatment to treat moderate to advanced periodontal disease by using a variable free-running pulsed neodymium yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG at 1064 nm wavelength) laser to treat the periodontal pocket. The LANAP selectively removes diseased or infected pocket from the underlying connective tissue.

What Typically Occurs During a LANAP treatment?

During your procedure, Dr. Pawlus will insert a tiny laser fiber (about the thickness of three human hairs) between the tooth and the gum. The infection and disease will be cleared away without cutting the gums. The tooth roots will be thoroughly cleaned of tartar and plaque, and the laser will be used again at a different setting to create a stable, firm fibrin blood clot to seal the pocket.
